At the 2014 Convergence Summit’s “Crowdfunding for Health” panel, Velocity Growth Chief Executive Officer Jeff Belk and Chief Strategy Officer Andy Abramson provided insight into the ways this new model of funding is being used in the connected health field. Velocity Growth’s Chief Platform Officer Josh Baylin also attended the Summit; his blog post on which can be found below. In short, Baylin found that “Health, like other verticals is being revolutionized with data. As Baylin aptly wrote, “What’s perhaps so exciting is after years of waiting for technology, institutions and patients to “get” mobile health, that no longer seems to be at issue.  What is of issue is how to turn these methods and insights into viable businesses.  A great quote from our friend Dr. Craig Friderichs, Director of Health, Mobile for Development at GSMA, ‘Technology will not revolutionize healthcare.  The business case for doing so will.’”
