LeapFrog Enterprises recently announced the introduction of LeapBand, an activity tracker designed specifically for children. Equipped with 50 activities and challenges,  LeapBand encourages active play and healthy habits as it tracks the child’s physical movements. Children earn activity points, which accumulate to unlock additional games, challenges and virtual rewards.

“We understand that helping a child reach their potential not only includes making sure they are versed on the ABCs and 123s, but they are encouraged through play to establish healthy habits and get the exercise they need every day,” explained Dr. Jody Sherman LeVos, director of LeapFrog’s Learning Team. “LeapBand is a great way to get kids up and active and help them develop a strong foundation for healthy lifestyles.”

LeapBand includes a built-in accelerometer, hi-res color screen, rechargeable battery, and is water resistant. The tracker also includes eight customizable ‘pets’ from LeapFrog’s Pet Pals franchise that can be given a color and name. Available in green, pink and blue, LeapBand can be found online and in major retail locations starting August 2014.
